Rufftone, born Roy Smith Mwita, is a renowned Kenyan gospel artist, songwriter, and preacher. He was born on November 1, 1978, in Nairobi, Kenya. Rufftone is known for his unique music style that blends gospel, reggae, and hip-hop, making him a pioneer in the gospel reggae genre in East Africa. Growing up in Nairobi, Rufftone developed a passion for music at a young age. He was raised in a Christian family, which greatly influenced his musical journey. His father, the late Pastor Reuben Kigame, was a well-known gospel musician and preacher, and Rufftone drew inspiration from him. He started singing in the church choir and later formed a gospel group called "Gospel Fathers" with his siblings, Daddy Owen and Kris Eeh Baba. Rufftone's music career took off in the late 1990s when he released his debut album, "Mwikulu." The album was a success and featured hit songs like "Mwikulu," "Niko Na Reason," and "Kijana Wa Kayole."
